This 1970 Chevrolet K10 4×4 pickup is a short-bed example that was initially delivered to California-based American Exploration and Mining company on January 7, 1970. The truck is said to have been used by a geologist based out of the company’s Tucson, Arizona office and was acquired by the employee after the company went out of business. It then remained in the same family until the seller purchased it in 2023. Subsequent work involved refinishing the truck in white and refreshing the black and white interior. Power is provided by a replacement 350ci engine backed by a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes power steering, power-assisted brakes, 16″ wheels, air conditioning, and a RetroSound stereo.
The seller reports that the truck was refinished in white two-stage urethane in 2023. A Fleetside bed, dual side mirrors, and painted bumpers are equipped. A blemish on the top of the grille and an area of touched-up paint on the left fender are noted.
The 16″ wheels are mounted with 235/85 Michelin Agilis CrossClimate tires that were mounted in 2021. A spare is secured in the truck bed, and an additional loose spare is also included in the sale. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs, power steering, and power-assisted drum brakes.
The interior was overhauled in 2023, and replacement components include the black vinyl upholstery, steering wheel, dash trim, air conditioning vents, dash pad, carpeting, armrests, handles, and pedals. A RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth capability is also installed. The seller reports that the air conditioning has been converted to use R-134a refrigerant and that a leak at the compressor was repaired in preparation for the sale. Holes on the sides and wear on the back of the seat upholstery are depicted in the gallery below.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 96k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 350ci V8 GM crate engine was installed in 1996. The seller reports that the Quadrajet carburetor and the distributor, plugs, and wires were replaced in preparation for the sale, while the brass four-core radiator was replaced in 2018.
Power is routed to all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
